Transportation to Pécs
By plane to Budapest
The international airport of Hungary is called Ferihegy. It is situated 20 km-s from the city centre. It has two terminals: Ferihegy I. and Ferihegy II. There are about 50 companies flying to Budapest. Malév Hungarian Airlines flies directly from more than 30 countries. Wizzair, Sky Europe, EasyJet, and Jet2 offer cheap flights to Budapest from a lot of destinations.
By coach to Budapest
Volánbusz runs regular transport services from about 18 different European countries. Through its partners, Volánbusz organises services from other countries, too. Buses arrive at Budapest Népliget Coach Terminal (Budapest, IX. ker. Üllői út 131.), the same station where you can find buses to Pécs.
By rail to Budapest
Hungarian State Railway Company (MÁV) has rail services that run as far as London, Stockholm, St Petersburg, Istanbul and Rome. There are direct lines connecting Budapest and 16 European capitals. Check out the International timetable. Most international express trains arrive at Eastern Railway Station (Keleti Pályaudvar) where you can find trains to Pécs right away (see details below).
From the airport to Budapest
The Airport Minibus service takes you to any destination in Budapest. They have a desk in the terminal, or you cal call +36 1 296 8555. The prices are 2,300.- HUF for one-way, or 3,900.- HUF for return ticket.
It is also possible to take a taxi. You can usually find taxis at the entrance doors or you can call +36 1 365 5555. The prices with a destination within Budapest are between 3,000.- and 4,300.- HUF.
Alternatively, you can use the local public transportation services run by Budapest Public Transportation Company (BKV). Bus no. 93 and 200 leave from the airport (both Ferihegy Terminals I. and II.) to the Kőbánya-Kispest Metro Station. From Kőbánya-Kispest take the metro line M3 (blue) to Deák Ferenc Tér where you can transfer to metro line M2 (red) which can take you to Southern Railway Station (Déli Pályaudvar) or Eastern Railway Station (Keleti Pályaudvar). Tickets for buses and metro lines can be bought at newstands or at vending machines. One single ticket (vonaljegy) costs 290.- HUF, a trensfer ticket for metro lines (átszállójegy) costs 450.- HUF. Please, remember to stamp the tickets at the beginning of each journey and keep the tickets until you have left the metro station.

Local public transportation services are quite good in Budapest. You can take metro, bus, tram, trolley, and other vehicles in the city. You can check out the timetables, useful information on the website of Budapest Public Transportation Company (BKV). Here, you will also find a route planner.
There are a lot of taxi companies in Budapest. Their prices and services can alter, and we would ask you to be careful about making your choice. We would recommend primarily the following companies:

By train to Pécs
There are several daily trains between Budapest and Pécs. We recommend you to take InterCity trains which are faster and more comfortable. For timetables, prices and depart stations, see Elvira Online Timetable. Unfortunately, without a Hungarian student card, you are not entitled to the student discount.

By coach to Pécs
Volánbusz runs domestic coaches in Hungary, thus daily coaches to Pécs. They leave from Budapest Népliget Coach Terminal (Budapest, IX. ker. Üllői út 131.), the same station where international coaches arrive. Check out the domestic timetable.
By car to Pécs
