Visa information
This page gives you some basic information on visa and the official contacts. For up-to-date and detailed infomation about the official procedures, please, visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or contact the nearest Hungarian diplomatic mission.
Do I need a visa? Which are the visa-countries to Hungary?
EU-citizens do not need a visa to enter Hungary.
If you are a non-EU-citizen, please check the list of countries at the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs: if your home country is not included in the list, you need a visa.
Where do I apply for a visa?
The visa is applied for from the Hungarian mission or consular post in the country of your permanent or habitual residence. If the country has not got a Hungarian embassy or consulate, you must apply for it from a Hungarian mission in the nearest country to your own.
Hungarian honorary consular offices also accept visa applications. They can forward the applications to the nearest diplomatic mission or consular post. However, they are not entitled to issue visas.
How do I apply for a visa?
The most up-to-date information with details and legal background is accessible at the webpage about entering to Hungary at the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You have to fill in the short-time (for less than 90 days) visa application form. You can fill in the form at the embassy or download it from the Ministry`s website. You may need to supply further details in addition to those mentioned above. Please contact the nearest diplomatic mission for more detailed information.
Letter of Invitation for ICWiP
After the application deadlines, the Organising Team start to decide upon the approved applications, then we start sending the invitation letters needed for visa applications. We will send them by post. Please, note that we are issuing one original copy of the inivtation letter. If you have any question or problem concerning this, please, contact us at icwip[at]icwip.hu.
Important to note
Please, note that the Organising Team of ICWiP can assist you with visa application ONLY by issuing and sending an invitation letter for the event. All the further steps and requirements are obliged to be fulfilled by the person requiring visa to enter Hungary. In other words, personally you have to carry out the whole visa procedure. The Organising Team is not authorised to contact the embassies or consulates in this respect.
